As part of their continued investment in innovation, our client is expanding their R&D team and seeking a Mechanical Development Engineer to support ongoing product development and solve complex mechanical challenges. This role is pivotal in delivering mechanical engineering expertise across development, testing, and production support.


Role Overview

The Development Engineer will be responsible for providing high-level mechanical engineering support across the product lifecycle—from early-stage concept development to testing, validation, and production issue resolution. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality, and Design, the successful candidate will play a key role in driving innovation and ensuring product reliability and performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of new mechanical components and systems for electromechanical products.

  • Investigate and resolve technical issues escalated from manufacturing and production lines.

  • Conduct quality assurance activities such as lifecycle, durability, and functional testing.

  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to develop practical and scalable mechanical solutions.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in both product and production processes.

  • Analyse and interpret complex technical drawings and design documentation.

  • Assist with prototype builds, testing procedures, and documentation of test results.


Skills & Experience Required

  • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering is essential; a completed technical apprenticeship is advantageous.

  • Experience with 3D CAD software for mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, etc.).

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing methods such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, moulding, extrusions, and casting.

  • Proven background in electromechanical product development and testing.

  • Ability to interpret detailed engineering drawings and documentation.

  • Creative and pragmatic problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
